How to Find Your Ring Size at Home

19 July 2026·6 min read

The number one question we get asked before a ring order is: “how do I know my size?” Here's everything — two reliable ways to measure at home, the full size chart, and how to secretly find someone else's size for a surprise.

All you need is a strip of paper and a ruler. Two minutes, no special tools.

Method 1: The Paper Strip (Most Accurate at Home)

  1. Cut a strip of paper about 10 cm long and half a centimetre wide. Paper beats string or thread — thread stretches and quietly adds a size.
  2. Wrap it around the base of the finger you'll wear the ring on — snug, but loose enough to slide back over your knuckle.
  3. Mark the exact point where the paper overlaps with a pen.
  4. Unroll it and measure from the end to your mark in millimetres. That number is your finger's circumference.
  5. Find it in the circumference column of the chart below — that row is your size.

Measure two or three times and take the most common result — a single wobbly wrap can be off by a full size.

Method 2: A Ring That Already Fits

  1. Take a ring that fits the intended finger well — not one worn on a different finger, sizes vary a lot between fingers.
  2. Place it on a ruler and measure the widest inside distance, edge to edge, in millimetres. Don't include the metal band itself.
  3. Match that number to the diameter column in the chart below.

Five Tips for a Truer Fit

  • Measure in the evening. Fingers are fullest at the end of the day — a ring sized in the morning can feel tight by night.

  • Mind the knuckle. If your knuckle is noticeably wider than your finger base, measure both and pick a size in between — the ring must pass the knuckle but not spin freely.

  • Skip cold days. Cold shrinks fingers by up to half a size. Measure at normal room temperature.

  • Wide bands run snug. Chunky and statement rings sit tighter than thin bands at the same size — go half a size up.

  • When in doubt, size up. A loose ring has options. A tight ring has none.

Ring Size FAQs

What ring size should I order if I don't know my size?

Worldwide, most women wear between US 5 and 7, with 6 and 7 being the most common. If it's a gift and you can't measure, US 6 or 7 is the safest guess for a ring finger — and our exchange policy has you covered if it doesn't fit.

What if I'm between two sizes?

Go with the larger size. A slightly loose ring can be worn (or moved to another finger); a tight one can't be worn at all. Wide-band rings also fit more snugly than thin bands, so size up for chunky styles.

Can I exchange a ring if the size is wrong?

Yes. Our exchange policy is deliberately lenient — if the size isn't right, message us on WhatsApp or Instagram and we'll sort out an exchange. See our returns page for details.

How do I find her ring size without ruining the surprise?

Borrow a ring she already wears on that finger (from her dresser, not her hand!), place it over a ruler, and measure the widest inside distance in millimetres. Match that to the diameter column in our chart. Or trace the inside of the ring on paper and send us a photo with a coin next to it for scale — we'll work out the size for you.

Do fingers change size?

Yes — fingers are slimmer in the morning and in cold weather, and slightly fuller in the evening, in summer, and after salty food. Measure at the end of a normal day, at room temperature, for the truest fit.

Still unsure? See our exchange policy or browse our rings collection — and message us anytime; sizing help is what we're here for.
